Coconuts and piggy backs

This past weekend was pretty laid back. We hung out at home, steamed cleaned carpets, started a new small group bible study and explored coconuts.

Do your children watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates? They are always talking about coconuts so C wanted to see one and taste one and play 20 questions about one. We only had the bagged kind in the fridge but I let him have a little taste.

When I did my weekly shopping they had the coconuts marked down so I brought one home for C. I don't want him to be one of those children that think milk originates from a jug or whatever, I want him to see where our foods originally comes from.

 

Well this "easy open" coconut was not so easy to open!

Step three: Break open at crease...this is where J quit...until he decided to "go all monkey" on the coconut and took it outside to brake it open on the side walk. I missed this part because J grabbed to coconut and went outside before I had a chance to grab the camera...men!

I was sitting at the computer which is in the dinning room (don't get me started on how much I can't wait to move to a bigger house!) and J comes through with this...

 

 

Apparently this is how an older brother gives his younger sister a piggy back ride when he isn't much bigger than her (there is only a 9 lb difference in them). They ran around and laughed for a good ten minutes!

Clayton's Early birthday weekend

Because Clayton and Charlotte's birthdays are so close together (2 weeks) and Easter usually falls into that time frame, birthday parties are tricky. Who gets the party, do they have a combined, do we go on a trip...This year we decided Clayton would get a trip and Charlotte would get the party since it was her 1st birthday. Easter weekend was a 4 day holiday for Jason so we chose that weekend for Clayton's trip.

Neither child are stoked about being in the car, Charlotte actually LOATHES the car so we wanted to go somewhere close but with lots of options. Legoland and Coronado Island are pretty close to each other and Coronado Island has a Navy base that we can stay at for super cheap and have access to a private beach...No Brainer!

We left Friday and did the Legoland Sealife Aquarium on the way to the Navy base. It wasn't the best aquarium I have ever been to but wasn't too overwhelming for the kids.

They had these cute little slides and climbing things periodically which was nice and let out some energy from having to walk behind the people that were really into the fish :)

All of the sea life Lego creatures were actually pretty cool.

On Clayton's actual birthday he opened his presents and had cake at home with just our little family.

Window washing and watching

Saturday is my "honey do" day. I compile a list of stuff I need Jason to help with or I need him to do. Last weekend it was cut the grass and wash off the back porch. Clayton thought it was raining and wanted to watch. Sadly it was just Jason washing the windows but Clayton still had a good time watching :)

Smart Start T-ball

Back in April 2012 Clayton asked to play a sport. I've said it before that we are not in an awesome location for multiple opportunities so I was afraid I wasn't going to find something for his age. I asked around and heard great things about the Start Smart Sports program on post. They offer weekly sports classes that are geared toward teaching the basic skills of which ever sport is in season. In April they were offering Baseball. I was overall pleased with the program. The kids learned very basic baseball skills but also team sport skills and how to listen to a coach.

It was a really fun time for everyone...Jason was the parent who particiapted since there was parent participation required... I got to watch and snap pictures and feed Charlotte :)
